Captivating, charismatic and totally cool! As
individuals, these Putina breeders raised fawn
alpacas, using the Sollocota Co-op plantel machos
on their private herds. Thus, many of the Putina
fawn alpacas had plantel Sollocata genetics! From
the moment this macho was spotted in the Putina
region of the Peruvian Altiplano, the Peruvian
import selection team knew Conway was something
special! In Peru, Conway was known as a "tuco."
A tuco is an alpaca whose face as a tui (yearling)
is totally covered with fiber. As an adult you
will still see fiber curls on the face. Even today,
tuco machos in the United States are not commonly
available, thus making him an exceptionally desirable
herdsire. Out of 27 registered offspring to date,
17 females and 10 males, many have had tremendous
success in the show ring. Conways genetics
continue to captivate the owners of his progeny!
He had very dense fleece with a pleasing handle.
If you are looking for tuco genetics unrelated
to the rest of your herd, youll want to
look at Peruvian Conway's progeny!
